User guides for the OrthoPed foot drop splint
Instructions for putting on and taking off the OrthoPed foot drop splint are shown below, followed by some videos to accompany these instructions. Please also consult our detailed Information for Use which can be accessed by clicking here.
Advice for users:
- For comfort, wear a sock under the ankle strap.
- The OrthoPed splint may cause a slight red mark on your ankle like a sock mark. This should disappear within 30 minutes of taking off the OrthoPed splint. If it does not, please speak to the clinician providing you the splint as you may need a different size.
- Always follow the advice given to you by your healthcare professional.

How to put on the OrthoPed splint:
- Remove from the packaging.
- Read the Information For Use (IFU).
- If wearing lace up shoes, tighten the laces as much as possible and tie as tightly as comfortable.
- Whilst sitting with feet flat on the floor, open the neoprene strap and pull the round clasp off its magnetic base
- Place foot through cord loop.
- Wrap neoprene strap around ankle, overlapping the narrower Velcro end on top of the wider buckle end. Pass Velcro tab through buckle and fold back on itself to secure. You should be able to fit 1 finger around the top and bottom of the neoprene strap when it is done up.
- Have foot flat on the floor and shuffle forwards whilst keeping foot still on the floor to bend ankle as much as is comfortable.
- Attach hook to furthest from the ankle shoelace or Velcro strap. Remember to close the Velcro strap of your shoe over the hook.
- Twist the round clasp to create the tension you need in the cord to enable you to walk without catching your toes on the floor. The round clasp only tightens when you twist it to the right. After placing the OrthoPed splint on with lace up shoes you will need to readjust the twisty clasp after a couple of minutes to allow for movement of the shoelace.

How to take off the OrthoPed splint:
- Pull the round clasp off its magnetic base to release the tension in the cord.
- Take the hook off the shoe.
- Open the neoprene strap.
- Pull splint off foot.
